ABOUT
THE BOOK
|
| Toots
has lost his way in life. His wife, Nellie, has retreated to a convent,
unable to cope with a family tragedy which weighs heavily upon them both.
When his friend, Jack Droney, decides they all need to sing to rediscover
the joy in life, his friends decide to stage an old-fashioned variety concert.
Comedy and tragedy combine in the build-up to the performance, as the motley
crews pursue their private dreams while Toots hopes to use the concert to
coax his wife out of her voluntary exile. Sing! is a passionate evocation of one of Ireland's forgotten communities and a moving tale of grief and the obstinate nature of hope. |
