Anita Shreve is the author of seven previous novels, Eden Close, Strange Fits of Passion, Where or When, Resistance, The Weight of Water (nominated for the 1999 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award), The Pilot's Wife (nominated for the 2000 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award), and Fortune's Rocks. She teaches creative writing at Amherst College and divides her time between Massachusetts and New Hampshire, U.S.A.
