Lowell tries not to think about the past and hijacking that killed his mother. Samantha, on the other hand, cannot let go. Janette Turner Hospital was born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1942. She has taught in universities n Australia, Canada, England, France and the United States. She is the author of six novels, including The Ivory Swing and the award-winning Oyster and three short story collections. Her work has been published in 12 languages. She is professor of Creative Writing and Distinguished Writer-in-Residence at the University of South Carolina, USA.
